heirloom flowers, sort of

These are some flowers in our yard that used to be in Grandma and Grandpa Adams' yard. I'll never forget the first time I saw all those poppies in bloom that lined their driveway. WOW. If I can find it, I should scan in pictures of one-year old Emily with those poppies. I hope someday they'll fill in the space and produce more than 2 blooms, but I'm just so happy that they finally did bloom. From what Mike knows, Grandpa Adams' mother bred irises or made new kinds or however you put it. Thanks to Shaney for rescuing these flowers for us. Maybe someday I'll have a plant that people remember me by. I hope it's not a dandelion. :)

PS-- next year I'll have flowers on my columbines from my grandparents/parents' yard!

Cool!

We do the same thing. WE have lilacs, raspberry bushes, and pine trees....all from Dean's parents yard. We have flowers, perennials, Rhubarb, and mint from my parent's yard.

If we ever sell this place.....I am going to have to take half my yard with me! I am sentimental that way. : D

Ha Ha, dandelion. What's wrong with dandelions anyway?
It would be better than being remembered as crabgrass or spotted knapweed or something like that I suppose.

Thanks for the Iris that you gave us. They are beautiful this year. I think of you everytime I see them.

Thanks, Chad... I suppose dandelions are also better than dyer's woad, eh? I could add crabb grass, puncture weed, etc etc etc.....
